Geography

Egypt is located in northern Africa along the Mediterranean and Red Seas, and is a thousand miles long from north to south. In the ancient times, Egypt was separated into two types of lands, the red land, and the black land.

The black land was the fertile land near the banks of the Nile – which was where the Egyptians used to plant crops, and the red land was the infertile land that protected Egypt on both sides. This land was very important as it avoided invading enemies and provided valuable stones and metals.
